“Preclinical Efficacy Evaluation of Oncothermia (LAB-EHY Hyperthermia Device) in a BxPC-3 Human Pancreatic Xenograft Tumor Model in Mice

Purpose
To evaluate the therapeutic efficacy of Oncothermia (LAB-EHY) in the treatment of BxPC-3 human pancreatic adenocarcinoma xenograft in CD-1- nude mice.

Materials and Methods

Cell line
Human pancreatic adenocarcinoma cell line (BxPC-3) was grown as monolayer culture in minimum essential medium (α-MEM) supplemented with 10% fetal bovine serum (FBS), 0.1 mM non-essential amino acid, 1.0 mM sodium pyruvate, 1000 U/ml penicillin, 100 μg/ml streptomycin, 0.25 μg/ml amphotericin B and 2mM L-alanyl-l-glutamine at 370C in an atmosphere of 5% CO2 in air. The tumor cells were routinely subcultured twice weekly by trypsin-EDTA treatment. The cells wre harvested from subconfluent logarithmically growing culture by treatment with trypsin-EDTA and counted for tumor inoculation. …”
